Superintendent Warns on Budget
At 41:45 of 10/07/2010 School Board Meeting, La Salle warns the board that he is going to need a lot more money this year. The following ‘pressures’ will likely impact our tax bills…
- Loss of Adequacy Aid will cost district $744,679
- Retirement Increases will cost district $373,690
- Building Funds at Risk ($1.1m)
- Catastrophic Aid at Risk (?)
La Salle characterizes the situation as ‘slightly frightening’ and warns that most of the burden will fall on the district’s smallest communities. On June 21st told the school board (with cameras off) that there was $1.2 million in the current budget for engineering studies and permitting for a new school — if building a new high school was a priority. This money surplussed in 2010 and not budgeted in 2011 would more than offset the increases — if the taxpayers are a priotity.
