41 to 34

February 10, 2013

Thursday February 7, 2013 was the 2013 Deliberative Session of the School Meeting of the Timberlane Regional School District.  Seventy-five voters attended.  Forty-one of those voters increased the school budget $150,000 without consideration or due process.  What were you doing that was more important than participating in the deliberative session?  Seven voters could have prevented this money from being added to the budget.  Jack Sapia of Atkinson, who advanced the amendment, promised that the cost of the proposed purchase would be offset by reduction in labor costs.  When TRSD’s counsel explained that the budget was bottom line and any amendment would only affect the bottom line, George Stokinger assured the voters that he would spend the money exactly as Mr. Sapia desired and Superintendent Metzler concurred.  So, Mr. Groundskeeper, start looking for  a new job because at TRSD, nothing runs like a Deere!
